Why is it important to take the SAT?

The SAT is an entrance exam that provides colleges with one common criterion to compare all applicants. A student’s SAT score is only one factor in the admissions decision, and the weight placed on SAT scores varies from school to school. Your high school GPA, academic transcript, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, interviews, and personal essays are also considered.

For more specific information on the importance of SAT scores at the schools you are interested in, contact the admissions offices directly.

The SAT exam is offered nationally every year in October, November, December, January, March, May, June and August.

What is the difference between the SAT and the ACT?

Is the SAT more prestigious than the ACT, or vice versa? There is no definite answer. However, we can help you explore your options and the benefits of each test. In many cases, schools will accept either exam, so it is up to you to decide which one to take.

How is the test scored?

Each section of the SAT is scored on a 200 to 800-point scale, making the “perfect” score 1600. Learn more about your SAT Score Report.
